Second Half Push Not Enough Against Army West Point

O'Hanlon and Kreitler Each Net Hat Tricks as Raiders Drop League Game to Black Knights, 11-9

HAMILTON – A late second half push was not enough as the Colgate women's lacrosse team fell to the Army West Point Black Knights, 11-9, Wednesday night at Beyer-Small '76 Field.

Army West Point's victory was its first in conference play since joining the Patriot League prior to the 2016 season. With the loss, the Raiders are eliminated from Patriot League playoff contention.

Isabel Kreitler (Fairfield, Connecticut) and Haley O'Hanlon (Garden City, New York) had matching hat tricks for the Raiders while O'Hanlon tied for a game-high four points on the evening. Kreitler's hat trick was her eighth of the season and fourth straight while O'Hanlon's hat trick was her fifth.

Kreitler's hat trick also gives her 40 goals this season and 98 in her career, just two shy of joining the exclusive 100-goal club.

On the defensive side, goalkeeper Asil Asfour (Eden Prairie, Minnesota) tied her career-high for saves with 10 in the loss for the Raiders.

Army West Point staked itself out to a 4-1 lead midway through the first half with a Payton Gabriel (Lakewood, Colorado) goal sandwich in between the pair of Black Knights' goals.

Colgate and Army traded goals for the remainder of the first half, with the Raiders outscoring the Black Knight's 3-2 to trail by just two at halftime, 6-4. Charlotte Redican (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) netted a goal while O'Hanlon scored two straight for the Raiders.

Kreitler turned up the heat in the second half, as the Raiders scored three of the first four goals to tie the game, 7-7, with 14:22 left in the half. Kreitler scored Colgate's first two goals before Lindsay West (Bedford Hills, New York) netted her ninth goal of the season to tie the game.

Just 43 seconds after West's goal, Army West Point scored four consecutive goals over 7:17 to take an 11-7 lead and would not look back. O'Hanlon and Kreitler each scored goals in the final 4:44 of the game to bring the Raiders within two, but Colgate could not break the Army West Point defense for any more goals.
