WEST POINT, N.Y. – Janae McNeal scored seven straight points to cap a 17-2 Army West Point finish as the Black Knights outlasted Colgate 57-47 here Wednesday night.
Seemingly an instant before Army's closing number, it was the Raiders who held the hot hand.
Kateri Stone's step-back corner 3-ball capped an 11-0 run and gave Colgate a 45-40 lead with 9:13 remaining.
And despite a five-plus-minute Raider scoring drought that followed,
Rachel Thompson's driving layup with 4:03 showing pushed Colgate back in front at 47-46.
But that was it for the Raiders, who watched Army reel off the final 11 points to cap an evening of hot and cold for both teams.
Colgate led 18-12 after one quarter and rallied for a 15-15 wash in the third quarter that made it 42-40 Raiders heading to the fourth. But nine points in the second quarter and a season-low five in the fourth proved decisive.
Stone led Colgate with 16 points and Thompson added 13.
Three Army starters produced double-doubles, led by McNeal's 17 points and 11 rebounds. Madison Hovren added 15 and 11, while Aliyah Murray contributed 11 points and a game-high 12 boards.

Colgate head coach Bill Cleary: (On the game) "Basketball is a game of runs, and unfortunately they made the final run and that was the difference in the game. I'm disappointed; we had some really good looks. Our defense was really strong tonight. But shots that we normally make, we missed.
"You've got to tip your hat to Army. They're a great team."
