With the score tied at 1-1, Lehigh took control of the game by rattling off five unanswered goals in an 8:52 span midway through the first half to build a 6-1 cushion.

Colgate responded to the Mountain Hawk spurt as it used back-to-back tallies from Taylor Fischer and Haley O'Hanlon to pull within three, 6-3.

Kendall Garden restored Lehigh's five-goal cushion moments later, scoring twice in the final 2:55 of the opening frame to give the Mountain Hawks an 8-3 advantage at the break.

"Lehigh is a great team. Give them credit; they've got some great offensive threats on their team. I thought our defense did really well, we were just unable to get as many in the back of the net as we were in our first matchup with them."
