Fischer, Gorajek Pace Colgate at Siena

Taylor Fischer and Lauren Gorajek Record Hat Tricks, but Raiders Fall at Siena Saturday

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Siena tallied eight of the last 10 goals of the contest to erase a five-goal deficit and edge Colgate, 13-12, in collegiate women's lacrosse action Saturday at Siena Turf Field.

The Saints trailed 10-5 less than two minutes into the second half when tallies by Cara McQullan, Michelle Schwartz and Sarah Croutier over a 2:18 span pulled Siena within two, 10-8.

Lauren Gorajek temporarily halted the Saints surge as her third goal of the contest with 22:16 remaining restored the Raiders three-goal margin.

The score remained that way for nearly seven minutes until Lauren Smith notched her first goal of the game at the 14:52 mark to ignite the Saints to record the next five goals and build a 13-11 lead with 3:27 remaining.

The Raiders pulled within one during the final minute thanks to Kristen Norden's first goal of the campaign with 23 ticks on the clock, but Siena kept Colgate from getting any closer to record the one-goal victory.
