HAMILTON – The March Mania Challenge returns with the goal of helping Colgate Athletics secure gifts and athletics participation from its athletics alumni, current student-athletes and current player parents in the month of March.
 
If the challenge of 1,013 gifts in the month of March is met, Colgate Athletics will earn $50,000 thanks to our generous challengers: Amy Everett DiSibio '86 and Carmine DiSibio '85 P'18, Michael Herling '79 and Nancy Herling '81 P'08 '09 '12, Denis Cronin '69 P'09 '10, and Stephen Mehos '89 and Meg Mehos.
 
As an added benefit, the top three performing teams in the challenge each receive $3,000 from this larger challenge pool.
 
To ensure equity, teams have been organized into three groups based on the size of their alumni base. For details and groupings, visit colgate.edu/marchmania.
 
Former varsity athletes, current varsity athletes and current player parents are encouraged to participate. The teams rely on gifts from alumni, parents, and friends to meet annual budgetary needs. Gifts support recruiting, equipment, training, travel and more.
 
Gifts of any amount to any designation count, although alumni are encouraged to support their former team.  The ultimate purpose is to increase the alumni giving rate among former student-athletes while also positioning the Colgate Athletic Council as an important funding source that benefits all teams.
 
The Colgate Athletic Council provides Colgate Athletics with unrestricted support to fund initiatives that benefit all Colgate student-athletes. These initiatives range from the continued branding of athletic venues, providing internships in the areas of communications, compliance, and equipment, and providing the necessary replenishment to student-athletes after workouts in the weight room.
