HAMILTON – The Colgate volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-19) win over Loyola on Senior Day at Cotterell Court Saturday afternoon. The Raiders secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament with the victory.
Following next weekend's regular-season finale, the Raiders will travel to top-seeded American for the Patriot League Tournament. Colgate will face the No. 3 seed in the semifinals Saturday for a chance to advance to Sunday's championship match. The Patriot League Champion earned the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
Colgate celebrated its three seniors (

Katie Stansbury capped off a 6-3 run out of the break that put the Raiders ahead 20-9. The Raiders then used spikes from Stansbury,
Jaelah Hutchison and
Gabby Benck to score five of the final eight points of the set and earn a 25-12 set-one victory. The Raiders hit a match-best .565 in the opening set.
Colgate scored the first four points of the second set behind the serve of
Molly Smith. The Raiders worked their lead to 15-5 before Loyola called its second timeout of the set. The Greyhounds answered with six-straight points to pull within five at 16-11. A Hutchison spike got Colgate back on track and ignited a 4-1 Raiders streak. Loyola was back within five at 21-16, but the Raiders closed the set by scoring four of the final five points to claim a 25-17 set-two win and take a 2-0 match advantage.
The third set began much closer as the score was tied at every point up until an 8-8 stalemate. Loyola used a 4-0 run to jump ahead 11-8 and force a Colgate timeout. The Greyhound lead reached as high as four at 14-10 before the Raiders used a Harris service ace and Stansbury kill to pull within one at 14-13. With Loyola in front 16-15 a few points later, a Harris spike was followed by back-to-back kills from Hutchison to give the Raiders an 18-16 advantage. Colgate would hang onto the lead the rest of the way as the Raiders rattled off the final four points to capture a 25-19 set-three victory and 3-0 match sweep.

Ryan Baker
- "Our service game was much better today which allowed us to get set up defensively. Overall, we had a really strong attack game throughout the night. To have three hitters with double digit kills, it says a lot about the passing and setting game."
- "It's been an absolute honor and privilege to coach Kat, Mads, and Stebs. They were a top recruiting class that panned out in every way possible. They are incredible volleyball players, wonderful students, and leaders on campus. The university and our program have benefited so much from them. I can never thank them enough."
