BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Colgate women's swimming and diving team earned a hard-fought 153-145 win over Canisius in dual meet action Saturday afternoon. The men dropped a tough 178-109 battle to the Golden Griffins.

The decisive event of the women's meet proved to be the final event of the day, as the Raiders stepped up to win the 400-freesytle relay en route to the 153-145 victory. The women picked up their first dual meet win of the season with the help of a pair of first-place finishes from first-year
Kiersten Daly, junior
Megan Gallagher and sophomore
Liv Castro.

The men were once again led by first-year
Colton Hall who turned out two first-place finishes.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Daly earned the top spot in the 1,000-yard freestyle after touching the wall in 10:39.90.
- Daly also claimed first in the 200-yard IM with a mark of 2:11.92. She was followed closely by Flora Hanson (2:14.36) in second place.
- The Raiders grabbed the top three places in the 200-yard freestyle. Gallagher led the way in first place with a time of 1:57.12. Sam Adams (2:00.06) and Erica Silverman (2:01.99) placed second and third, respectively.
- Gallagher earned her second first-place finish of the day in the 100-yard free with a time of 54.06.
- Castro (2:12.23) and Bernadete Tankle (2:12.53) snagged the top two spots in the 200-yard butterfly. Castro also took home the 100-yard butterfly title with a time of 59.66.
- Hanson snagged first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a clip of 2:09.65.
- The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Gallagher, Michelle Dols, Lauren deTorres and Castro secured first place with a mark of 3:39.35.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- Colton Hall started his day with a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke after touching the wall in 1:01.68.
- Hall (53.46) also took home the 100-yard butterfly title, while Ian Flowers (58.04) finished second.
- Trey Johnson finished the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:17.48 to take home first place.
- The Raiders went 1-2-3 in the 200-yard IM as Anders Brekke led the way with a mark of 2:03.14. Flowers (2:12.29) and Mark Hilton (2:13.11) followed in second and third, respectively.
- Thomas Fretz grabbed the 1-meter dive title with a score of 219.25.

- "I'm really happy with the end results of the day for both squads. On the women's side, it came down to the last relay and whoever won the relay won the meet. It was a total team effort for us to be in a position to do that. I'm very happy with how everyone stepped up."
- "On the men's side, it went about as we expected. We were excited to get up and race and we'll be competitive with Niagara tomorrow."
- "There was a lot of energy and excitement and it was a great way to start the weekend of racing. Tomorrow at Niagara should be another close competition on both sides."
