Columbia Swings Past Colgate, 75-67

Raiders Can’t Find Basket Late; Thompson’s 13 Leads Balanced Offense

NEW YORK CITY – Colgate placed five players in double figures but Columbia rallied for a 75-67 decision here Sunday afternoon.

Mylah Chandler's put-back of her own miss handed Colgate a 65-61 edge with 5:30 remaining. Columbia then scored the game's next 14 points to cap a seesaw affair that included 10 lead changes.

When Chandler dropped in the last of her 11 points, Colgate had overcome a 59-52 deficit with a 13-2 run. The fact that Columbia answered with a closing run of its own simply mirrored the game as a whole.

Columbia scored 20 points in the first quarter, 10 in the second and 24 in the third. Colgate's score line by quarters was 12, 23 and 15, and it looked like things were swinging the Raiders' way once again with a 15-7 edge through the first half of the final period.

But Columbia grabbed the final momentum pivot.

Rachel Thompson scored 13 points for Colgate, with Chandler, Tori Pozsonyi and Haley Greer adding 11 apiece. Katie Curtis scored 10 to go with six assists.
