Raiders Return to Action Against Terriers

Colgate Took on Patriot League foe Boston University in its First Meet of the Spring Saturday at Lineberry Natatorium

HAMILTON – Colgate Swimming and Diving opened the spring portion of its 2015-16 schedule Saturday with a dual meet against Patriot League foe Boston University at Lineberry Natatorium.

Competing in a long-course format, the Terriers came away with a sweep, posting a 185-104 victory on the women's side and a 196-93 triumph in the men's competition.

Women's Highlights
- Erica Silverman won two events for the Raiders on Saturday, placing first in both the 200 butterfly (2:23.32) and 200 IM (2:35.10) competitions.
- Olivia Castro (2:29.34) gave the Raiders a 1-3 finish in the 200 butterfly while Courtney Gilroy (2:38.75) claimed second for a 1-2 result in the 200 IM.
- Cammie Kirby took first place in the 200 breast, touching the wall at 2:51.38. Jessica Cauley placed third in the race (2:55.10).
- In relay competition, the Raiders posted a 1-2 result in the 400 free relay. The quartet of Morgan Cohara, Madison Fitzgerald, Megan Gallagher and Lindsey Sagasta took first (4:08.47). The pairing of Olivia Castro, Cauley, Maggie Carney and Bernadette Tankle claimed third (4:30.35)
- Kirby led the Raiders to a 2-3 result in the 100 breast, claiming second (1:20.84) while Cauley placed third (1:21.61).
- Lindsey Sagasta recorded a pair of second-place finishes, turning in runner-up results in the 50 free (28.33) and 100 free (1:10.36) sprint races.

Men's Highlights
- Dominic Wilkins claimed the 800 free with a time of 9:06.12. Paul Kersjes gave the Raiders a 1-3 result in the race, taking third with a result of 9:22.81.
- Andrew Hacker took first in the 100 free sprint race, turning in a time of 56.15 to edge Boston University's Jake Goroshko (56.25). Hacker also claimed third in the 200 free (2:05.04).
- Anders Brekke won the 200 IM, turning in a time of 2:25.95. Trey Johnson claimed second in the race with a pace of 2:26.56.
- The Raiders claimed the top two spots in the 400 free relay. The grouping of Carter Christensen, Danny Graham, Kersjes and Hacker took first (3:46.12), edging the pairing of Nicholas Konovalov, Des Cairns, Dominic Wilkins and Max Michael (3:46.25).
