HAMILTON –
The Colgate women's soccer team got back on track here Sunday night, defeating Big East foe Providence, 3-1.

Sophomore Emily Crichlow gave the Raiders a two-goal cushion midway through the first half and Colgate never let up. Senior Jenna Raepple added an insurance marker just after half time and despite allowing a goal in the 61st minute, the Raiders held on for their second victory of the year.

Colgate was definitely in rhythm throughout much of the game, as eight different players recorded at least one shot on the day. Lauren D'Amico, Eliza Doll and Taryn Tomczyk all notched their first helpers of the year, while Raepple added her first season goal. Crichlow notched her second and third tally of the year in the contest as well.

Crichlow put the Raiders on the board first, a little less than seven minutes into the game, with a header off a corner kick. D'Amico sent a great ball into the 18-yard box, setting up the Edmonds, Washington, native to finish it off into the upper left-hand corner of the goal.   20218

Five minutes later, Providence's Kendall Andrew tried to even up the score with a shot from outside the box. Colgate goalie Erin Cummings made the brilliant save, though, by pushing the ball up and off the crossbar, before falling on the rebound to keep her team up by one.

Crichlow had a deja vu moment when she netted her second goal of the game using her head. In the 30th minute Eliza Doll juked a Friars' defender on the right wing and sent a beautiful cross into Crichlow, who headed the ball into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal. The tally handed her number three on the year and her first multi-goal game of the season.

Colgate's Raepple continued the rhythm of goals when she registered her first of the year, five minutes into the second period. Tomczyk sent a throughball into Raepple, who was sprinting past a Providence defender. She then blasted an attempt from just inside the right endline, hitting an improbable shot into the top corner of the far post, giving the Raiders a 3-0 advantage.

The Friars answered back ten minutes later off a free kick to make it a 3-1 ballgame. Catherine Zimmerman took the free kick from 25-yards out and managed to sneak it into the bottom left-hand corner just pasted the outstretched arms of Cummings.

The Raiders' continued to dominate play, getting a few good chances as time wound down. Two of those chances came from the foot of junior Sarah Coy, who sent driven shots on target that ended up just high and clipping the crossbar.

Colgate's defense kept the Friars from anymore solid chances on goal to secure itself the two-goal win.

FROM THE SOURCE
• Colgate Head Coach Kathy Brawn: (on the game) "There were so many things that we've been doing really well but we just haven't linked all the moments together. Tonight we did an excellent job of putting those moments together and finding our attack again. That's something that has really been lacking, quite frankly, over the last few games."

"It was nice to see certainly Emily Crichlow bust out and then Jenna Raepple come through with an awesome goal from a tough angle. Jenna's was just a rifle of a shot and Emily's goals came off a play we put together. It was really well executed from everybody involved and it was just nice to see."

UP NEXT
