HAMILTON –
Interior construction on Colgate's Class of 1965 Arena is in full swing.

The latest photo gallery shows the main seating area taking shape, along with coaches' offices, locker rooms and much more. The future home of Colgate hockey, lacrosse and soccer is on schedule and on budget, and set for a fall 2016 completion date.

"What an exciting time it is for our university!" said Colgate Vice President and Director of Athletics Victoria M. Chun '91, MA '94. "It is such an amazing sight to see shovels in the ground as we embark on the construction of this spectacular new facility that will benefit all of Colgate Athletics."

The Colgate University Board of Trustees voted unanimously in February 2013 to initiate the 97,000-square foot project. In advance of construction beginning on the Class of '65 Arena, Beyer-Small '76 Field was developed for the Colgate soccer teams so that the new facility could be located at the former site of Van Doren Field.

In addition to housing the first new Colgate ice hockey structure since Starr Rink opened in 1959, the Class of 1965 Arena will include office and locker room space for six of the program's 25 varsity sports – men's and women's hockey, lacrosse and soccer.

Groundbreaking ceremonies will take place at a time to be determined.

In the meantime, keep up via the 24-hour live webcam, and enjoy a look back at the construction to date via this Bob Cornell photo gallery.
