WEST POINT, N.Y. – A pair of Colgate field-goal attempts in the closing seconds wouldn't fall, and the Raiders dropped a 48-47 decision to Army here Wednesday night.
Colgate (5-21, 4-11 Patriot) lost its two regular season meetings against Army this season by a total of three points.
Patriot League scoring leader Kelsey Minato connected on her only field goal of the second half, a 3-pointer with 1:07 remaining, to give Army a 48-45 lead. Colgate's
Mariah Jones then made both ends of a 1-and-1 free-throw attempt with 58 seconds left to pull the Raiders within one.
Colgate defended and forced a traveling violation with 31 seconds remaining. After a timeout, the Raiders began working the ball for a good shot.
Missy Repoli drove the left baseline and pulled up from 12 feet. Her attempt hit the back iron and
Carole Harris retrieved the carom toward the 3-point line. Harris quickly fired but the ball appeared to be deflected and didn't reach the rim as the buzzer sounded.

Colgate head coach Nicci Hays Fort (On the game) "We did a good job on Minato except for about three possessions. We held everyone on their team under their averages, so we played well defensively for the most part. But there were just a few too many possessions where we lost focus. Unfortunately, they capitalized.
"It's been the same game against them the last three years. This year, we just can't figure out how to beat them. But we'll be ready to go Saturday for Senior Day. It's a big one."
