Raiders Romp Past Loyola, 72-45

Largest League Win in 20 Years; Stockill Posts Double-Double with Career-Highs in Points, Rebounds

BALTIMORE – Let this one sink in, Raider fans.

Colgate 72, Loyola 45.

Colgate put together the type of complete and emphatic win the team and coaching staff knew they had in them. Close, last-second losses were a thing of the past – at least for one satisfying Saturday afternoon inside Reitz Arena.

The Raiders set a pair of season bests in the game by shooting 46.2 percent from the field, and holding Loyola to just 29.4 percent. Colgate added a 43-28 rebounding edge.

Josie Stockill scored Colgate's first eight points in the game and finished with career-highs of both 19 points and 15 rebounds. It was her third double-double of the season.

Paige Kriftcher added 13 points, Carole Harris 11 and Missy Repoli 10 as Colgate placed four scorers in double-figures for the third time this season.

Colgate's 27-point win was the program's most decisive against a Patriot League opponent since the Raiders won 78-50 at Army back on Feb. 18, 1995.

From the Sources
• Colgate head coach Nicci Hays Fort: (Key to the game) "We played a really great defensive game, and that includes rebounding. We outrebounded them by 15 and held them to a season-low percentage. We've been talking the last few practices that we have to make people miss, so we've been emphasizing that and getting into people's shots earlier. A good defensive game was key today."
(On the halftime plan) "We had to come out with a lot of energy and knew the game was going to be won in the next five minutes. That where our lulls had been against Army, Navy and BU. We had to play committed defense and get stops, and then go get easy buckets. We did that and I was really proud of them."
(On Stockill's day) "Her having confidence and the way they were playing defensively allowed us to pound it inside. They were player her 1-on-1 and she was able to score."
(On the build-up to this win) "We were hoping, but we've been hoping the last three. We coulda-woulda-shoulda all those other games too. Today, we just put it all together. Now it's up to us to take this and move forward."
• Colgate forward Josie Stockill: (On the game plan) "We knew their posts were a little undersized, and our guards did a really good job getting us the ball inside. We just tried to post up really big."
(On her career-highs) "I'm really happy with that. The ball just kind of came my way a few times. Before the game, we talked about individual things we wanted to focus on and one of mine was rebounding and crashing the offensive glass. I tried to do that."
18387
Harris pitched in 11 points, six rebounds and three assists.

(On blocking her 100th career shot) "I knew I had one more to go, so when I got that block I was secretly stoked."
• Colgate guard Paige Kriftcher: (On her recent play) "I'm just trying to attack, stay aggressive help on defense and really get any wins for the team we can."
(On the team's mindset going into today) "We knew we were the snap of a finger away from winning. We've had so many close games, and this was another game we knew we could win. We just went into it like any other game."
(On her all-around game) "I'm trying to make it as hard as possible for teams to guard me. My teammates hit me with great passes and the posts are setting great screens, so it kind of opens up the floor for me."
• Colgate guard Missy Repoli: (On her recent form) "It's really sunk in that this is the last year, and I want to put it all out there as much as I can. I want to bring to the table what my team wants me to do.
(On the second-half start) "We had a 10-point lead at halftime; that was big for us. We knew Loyola was a good team and they could come back and make it five really quick. We didn't want that to happen.
"So we just tried to focus on hitting them hard and kept going at them."
