Raiders Take League Opener, 2-0

Doll, Raepple Net Markers; Mason Posts Sixth Shutout

EASTON, Pa.  – Colgate women's soccer opened up Patriot League play with a strong 2-0 victory over Lafayette on Saturday.

Two second half goals from Eliza Doll and Jenna Raepple proved to be the difference as Colgate shifts to 1-0 in league play. With the win, the Raiders' extend their unbeaten streak to seven games; including a winning streak of five games.

Doll's goals came at the 59 minute mark and was the eventual game-winner. The play started after Lexi Panepinto received the ball on the left wing. The junior then found Doll at the top left corner of the 18-yard box, where the Bethesda, Maryland, native made a shifty move to get past the Lafayette defender. She ripped a shot that sailed into the corner of the goal, stunning the keeper for the 1-0 Raider edge.

Raepple then added an insurance goal for Colgate in the 73rd minute. Again it was Panepinto who started the Raiders' attack. The environmental studies major dribbled the ball toward the endline on the right side of the field, forcing two Leopards players to follow and defend. That opened up Raepple at the top of the box and Panepinto had no trouble finding her. After receiving the ball, Raepple dribbled inside the box and fired a shot on goal 10-yards out. Lafayette's Danielle Sedillo almost got a hand on it but the attempt was too powerful and the shot blew past her.

Sophomore keeper Brenna Mason was again solid in net for Colgate and earned her sixth shutout of the season. The clean sheet also marked her fourth in a row, making it more than 360 minutes since the last time she allowed a goal.
