LINCOLN, Neb. – Colgate volleyball combined to post a .323 hitting percentage as it cruised to a 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-16) sweep of Akron in the opening match of the Ameritas Players Challenge Friday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Kathleen Harris recorded nine kills and senior
Diane Seely added eight to pace a Raiders lineup that combined for 41 spikes and just 10 attack errors in 99 attempts. Freshman setter Molly Harris dished out a team-best 22 assists while junior
Jackie Macy added 15 as the duo split time at the setter position. Harris recorded a team-best 15 digs and Macy chipped in nine bumps as both players finished the match just shy of a double-double.

Mary Delich and Kelsey Wilson tallied nine kills each for the Zips. Ashley Holder finished with 22 assists while Callie Mack notched a team-best seven digs.

How It Happened- In a tight first set that featured a total of 10 ties and six lead changes, Colgate trailed 21-19 when a pair of kills from freshman Katie Fauntleroy ignited a 6-1 spurt that closed out the frame and gave the Raiders a 25-23 victory.
- Colgate once again rallied in the second set, this time using a 12-2 run to wipe out a 15-13 deficit and cruise to a 25-17 triumph and a 2-0 lead.
- The Raiders closed out the match with a 25-16 victory in the third set, building a 16-10 advantage midway through the frame. Colgate would lead by as many as 10 in the latter stages of the set on its way to the nine-point victory and the sweep.

Inside The Box Score- The Raiders turned in a new season-high for hitting percentage (.323) as it committed a season-low 10 attack errors in the match.
- The Raiders hit better than .200 in each of the three sets, highlighted by a second frame that saw the squad record 18 kills with just three attack errors in 35 total attempts (.429).
- Colgate recorded a season-high six service aces in the match, doubling their previous season-high of three set against Cleveland State on Sept. 6. Â
- The match featured a total of 20 ties and nine lead changes, a majority of which occurred in the first set (10 ties and six lead changes).

News and Notes- The win was the first Colgate in four matchups with Akron. The two teams last met during the 2010 season in Hamilton.
- The victory also improved the Raiders record to 2-1 this season in neutral-court matches. Both of the wins for Colgate on neutral courts this season have been by way of sweep.
