HAMILTON –
Josie Stockill scored 13 points and Ariel Etheridge added nine second-half points off the bench, but Albany pulled away for a 67-48 decision here Saturday.

Stockill's game was her second in a row in double-figures, and she just missed holding game-high honors. Albany's Shereesha Richards finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead both categories.

The Great Danes snapped a 22-all tie by scoring the final eight points of the first half to go into intermission leading 30-22.

Etheridge, meanwhile, scored the first points of her collegiate career. The freshman connected on her first Colgate 3-point attempt 2½ minutes into the second half, sparking a 6-0 Raiders run that brought Colgate within 34-28. But Albany answered with a 21-4 spurt that iced the game by midway in the half.

Missy Repoli chipped in eight points on a pair of 3-pointers and Carole Harris seven to go with seven boards for the Raiders.

Colgate is home Wednesday against Binghamton in a 7 p.m. start.

From the Sources
• Colgate head coach Nicci Hays Fort: (On Josie Stockill's scoring) "One of our game plans was to get the ball inside. We thought we could get some attacks from the high-low, and Josie did a really good job of finishing on the free-throw line and really attacking them – especially in the second half."
(On Ariel Etheridge's day) "Ariel has put herself in position to help us out. She's a tough kid and we needed some toughness off the bench. That's why she got a chance."
(On Wednesday against Binghamton) "Binghamton is a really scrappy team. They have a new coach and they're going to look to take us out of what we want to do, so we've got to be able to execute better."
• Colgate forward Josie Stockill: (On her scoring success) "My teammates did a good job of feeding us in the post. They were really looking in, and we like to give the guards opportunities too. Whenever there an opening, I try to cash in the shot. I'm just trying to get good looks and make good shot selections."
• Colgate guard Ariel Etheridge: (On her afternoon) "I felt really confident going in there. I just wanted to be a spark off the bench, and I did pretty well at that. I'm not really a consistent 3-point shooter, but today was one of those days."
