HAMILTON – Colgate men's soccer closed out its 2014 season dropping a hard-fought decision to American on Saturday afternoon, 3-2.
Rookie
Karl Brown and sophomore
Ethan Kutler posted the Raiders' two goals in the contest, both coming in the second half of play. Brown's marker in the 48th minute was his first career goal, while Kutler's tally gave him 12 on the season and placed him tied for fourth all-time in Colgate's record book for season goals. The Lansing, New York, native also finished tied for third in program history with 31 season points.
The Eagles opened up the scoring in the 42nd minute and took that lead into the break.
A goal two minutes and 27 seconds into the second 45 minutes, however, knotted the score after Brown found the back of the net. American was called for a foul 35-yards out from goal on the right side of the field. Kutler stepped up to take the free kick and sent a well-placed cross to the head of Brown for the equalizer.
Kutler then added a goal of his own seven minutes later handing the Raiders a 2-1 edge.
But two unanswered goals from the Eagles, including a penalty kick, ultimately secured them the come from behind victory.

Ricky Brown made seven saves in the contest to American's two.

The Difference• The game-winner came from the foot of American's Liam Robley in the 77th minute.
- Colgate was called for a foul in the box off a corner kick awarding the Eagles a penalty kick opportunity. Robley was then able to place it past the outstretched arm of Colgate's Brown for the final goal.

• The Raiders goaltender Brown, posted 66 saves on the year with two shutouts
• Kutler recorded a hat trick on Sept. 21, which was the Raiders first since Nov. 8, 2003 vs. Army. Jon Cook '05 notched four games in that game on eight shots. He also posted two assists in the contest as the Raiders defeated the Black Knights, 8-1.
