HAMILTON – Championship rings were the featured menu item during Saturday's Colgate football annual team banquet.
The Raiders relived their run to the 2012 Patriot League championship in the university's Hall of Presidents. Among those honored with individual trophies was
Dick Biddle, named Patriot League Coach of the Year.
But the championship rings presentation was the evening's highlight.
“This championship was special for all of us, but especially for our seniors,” said Biddle, who just completed his 17th season as Raiders head coach. “I've never had a class graduate without winning a championship, and we kept that streak alive this year.”
Quarterback
Gavin McCarney, the Patriot League's Offensive Player of the Year, earned the Andy Kerr Offensive MVP Award for the second year in a row. Defensive tackle
Chris Horner received the Hal Lahar Defensive MVP Award.
The Mark Rakowski Special Teams Award went to
Bobby Stup, while
Ryne Morrison earned the Tom Dodge Unsung Hero Award.
The 2012 Captain Award was shared by linebacker
Patrick Friel and tailback
Jordan McCord, while John LeFevre '41 was presented the Maroon Council's Jack Mitchell Loyalty Award.
