WEST POINT, N.Y. – In a tune up for the Patriot League Championships, the Colgate women's swimming and diving team had a great showing in a tri-meet with Army and Lafayette, sweeping both squads.
The Raiders reached 200 points against each team. They defeated Lafayette by a wide margin at 233-66 and then took down Army, 214-86. Colgate dominated the entire meet by winning all events and placing first and second in five events on the afternoon. The Raiders had five swimmers win two events and diver
Kim Pilka swept both diving competitions.
Senior
Emma Santoro led the way, capturing victories in three individual events. Santoro took the 200 free, finishing with a time of 1:54.09. Teammate
Morgan Cohara was a close second at 1:55.17. Santoro would continue to set the pace, winning the 200 breast with a time of 2:22.19. Santoro would close our her stellar performance with the 200 IM. Her time of 2:09.31 was enough to edge out teammate
Megan Jex, who finished second at 2:10.63.
Lia Kunnapas had one of the best days of all the swimmers with two individual wins and was part of both relay victories. She teamed up with
Jenna Jacoby, Santoro and
Lindsey Sagasta in the 200 medley relay and came away with a time of 1:47.74 to take first place. She then swam in the 400 free relay in the last event of the day and won it with Cohara,
Hannah Fitton and
Sami Wary with a time of 3:33.96.
Kunnapas won each of the backstroke events for her individual wins. She won the 100 back by over a second, clocking in at 57.33 seconds and then followed that up in the 200 back with another win with a time of 2:02.96.
Joining Kunnapas in the winning column twice was
Melanie Lockard, who took both distance events. She placed first in the 1650 free, clocking in at 17:38.04.
Ryan Marynowski was a close second at 17:48.40. Lockard would go on to win the 500 free with a time of 5:04.47.
Marynowski claimed two victories of her own on the day, the first of which was in the 200 fly. She took the event with a time of 2:06.57. Marynowski would then go on to win the 100 fly, clocking in at 58.39.
Sagasta also won two individual events on the day. She sprinted her way to victory in the 50 free, posting a time of 24.07. The 100 free was another win for Sagasta, who finished with a time of 52.70.
The Raiders continued to roll as they would take first, second, and third in the 100 breast.
Becca Murray led the way with a time of 1:08.02. Finishing a close second was
Cammie Kirby at 1:08.53. Rounding out the group was Jex with a time of 1:08.64.
The Raiders also took home the diving events. Pilka claimed the 1-meter event with a score of 312.30, teammate
Chloe Russack finished second with a score of 225.70. Pilka completed the sweep in the diving events with a victory in the 3-meter with 262.90 points.
The Raiders return to action February 9th against UConn at Lineberry Natatorium in Hamilton for their final tune-up before the Patriot League Championships.
