CENTER VALLEY, Pa. (4/24/12) – Courtney Miller has had a stellar senior campaign and was honored as the Patriot League Midfielder of the Year, while Miller and rookies Jennie Berglin and Jenna Frost were named to All-Patriot League Teams.

Navy attacker Jasmine DePompeo earned her second-consecutive Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year award, while teammate Loren Generi was named the Rookie of the Year and Cindy Timchal took home the Coach of the Year honor for the Mids. Generi and Timchal were the first Navy representatives to win their respective awards, while DePompeo gave the school a third-straight Offensive Player of the Year honor.

The remaining two awards went to seniors, as Miller was named the Midfield Player of the Year and Holy Cross' Catherine Furman took home the Defensive Player of the Year award. Each was the first winner of the respective honor from her school.

Miller is wrapping up an outstanding career at Colgate with a great senior season, standing second in the Patriot League in both goals (54) and points (70). Her all-around game has also included 33 ground balls, good for fourth in the Patriot League, as well as 48 draw controls. Miller was at her best in Patriot League play, scoring 19 goals and adding five assists to help Colgate to a 4-2 record and the No. 2 seed in the upcoming League Tournament. That included a seven-goal, two-assist effort in a 13-11 victory at Lafayette on April 14 that pushed the Raiders into the postseason. Miller is ninth in Patriot League history in points (235), eighth in goals (163), ninth in assists (72) and third in draw controls (198). She is just the fourth player in Patriot League history to finish in the top 10 in points, goals and assists, and only the third to add draw controls to that list.

Miller concludes her career with four Midfield Player of the Week honors and three Offensive Player of the Week awards, including one of each this season. She is the first Raider to win the Midfield Player of the Year award, which is in its second season.

She also becomes only the third player in League history to earn first-team All-Patriot League honors in each of her four seasons, joining Lehigh's Lauren Dykstra (2008-11) and Colgate's Hilary Meyer (1996-99).

Joining Miller on the first team was rookie goalie Berglin, who started 11 games this season for the Raiders. She recorded a .437 save percentage and 11.64 GAA for the year, while posting three 10-plus save efforts. Berglin is the second rookie goalie to earn first team honors as Meyer did it in 1996 and she was the sixth overall goalie in the history of the program to make the top team in the league.

Frost was honored with a spot on the second team after a great rookie season on defense and in the midfield. She leads the league in ground balls with 51 and added a team-high 25 caused turnovers and averaged 1.5 per game for second in the league. The rookie was also named to the weekly honorable mention the last two weeks.

Navy led all schools with six players on the All-Patriot League Team, including three that earned first-team honors. The All-League Team was balanced throughout the rest of the squads, as American and Holy Cross each had four representatives while Colgate, Lehigh and Lafayette garnered three and Bucknell took a spot. American matched Navy with three players as first-team All-Patriot League selections. Voting was conducted by Patriot League women's lacrosse head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.

The 2012 Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Tournament will be played this weekend at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, beginning with Friday's semifinals as No. 4 seed American plays No. 1 Navy at 5 p.m. and No. 3 Holy Cross takes on No. 2 Colgate at 7:45 p.m. The winners meet for the Patriot League Championship on Sunday at 12 p.m. The entire tournament is available with live streaming through the Patriot League All-Access package.
