ANNAPOLIS, Md. (1/21/12) – Senior center Tricia Oakes scored a season-high 17 points but it wasn't enough as the Colgate women's basketball team fell to Navy 61-52 Saturday night at Alumni Hall.

Freshman Mariah Jones also had a productive game with seven points and five assists, while senior Kelly Korkowski added six points and seven rebounds.

Both teams exchanged baskets to open the game as neither one led by more than three points in the first seven minutes of action, before Navy (10-9, 3-2) broke a 10-10 tie with an 11-4 run to build a 21-14 lead with eight minutes remaining. The Mids then extended their lead as they closed the half with a 18-9 run to take a 39-23 lead into the locker room.

Colgate (4-16, 1-4) opened the second half with a 10-2 run to trim the lead to 41-33 with 11:29 left in regulation. But Navy answered back with three-straight points to go up 46-33 with 9:42 left. The Raiders then pieced together a 12-5 run, including back-to-back layups from Oakes to make the score 51-45 with four minutes remaining, but that was as close as the game would get as the Mids finished the game with a 10-4 run, before Jones drained a three-pointer with 10 seconds left to make the final score 61-52.

Alex Membreno scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Navy, while Jade Greif pitched in 16 points and seven boards.

Navy finished the game shooting 47.2 percent, including 37.5 from downtown, while holding Colgate to 40.7 percent from the floor and a season low 10 percent from downtown. The Mids also won the battle on the boards 40-33.

The Raiders will travel to Lafayette on Wednesday, Jan. 25. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Kirby Sports Center and will be streamed live on Patriot League All-Access.
