Women's Soccer Faces Cornell on Wednesday

HAMILTON, N.Y. (9/5/11)
– The Colgate women's soccer team will travel to Ithaca, N.Y. on Wednesday for a matchup against Cornell at 7 p.m.

The Raiders are coming off a 1-0 loss to Seton Hall and a 4-1 win over Stetson last weekend at the West Point Classic.

RAIDERS' OFFENSE
Colgate (2-3) is led by freshman Jenna Raepple and junior Jillian Kinter, who both have five points apiece. Raepple, who leads the Patriot League in shots (16) and is third in goals, has a team-high two goals and one assist, while Kinter, who has one goal and three assists, leads the league in assists and assists per game (0.75).

The team also leads the league in several categories. The Raiders are ranked first in points (27), goals (9), goals per game (1.80), assists (9) and assists per game (1.80).

SERIES
Cornell holds a slight lead in the all-time series with a 15-14-3 record since the teams first met in 1982. The Big Red won the last meeting between the two teams in 2010 on Van Doren Field, when it defeated Colgate 2-0. The Raiders have a 6-7-3 road record against Cornell.

SCOUTING CORNELL
The Big Red (0-2) is coming off of 4-3 overtime loss to Fordham and a 4-0 loss to No. 3 Maryland last weekend. The team is led by junior Maneesha Chitanvis and senior Brook Chang. Chitanvis has a team-best five points from two goals and one assist, while Chang has one goal for two points.

PATRIOT LEAGUE PRESEASON POLL
The team was picked to finish second in the 2011 Patriot League Preseason Poll voted by head coaches and sports information directors in the league. The Raiders, who had 79 points and four first-place votes, were projected to finish behind Army, which had 93 points and 10 first-place votes. Following Colgate was Lehigh with 75 points and two first-place votes.
