WOMEN'S LACROSSE GAME CENTRAL

HAMILTON, N.Y. (4/20/11) –
The Patriot League Tournament field has already been set, but the top seed is still up for grabs and the Colgate women's lacrosse team is right in the thick of the race as the Raiders host Bucknell for a 1 p.m. start at Tyler's Field.

All game day links, including Colgate All-Access and live stats, are available at the Women's Lacrosse Game Central link at gocolgateraiders.com.

RAIDERS EARN TOURNAMENT SPOT
On a cold and rainy day at Tyler's Field, the Colgate women's lacrosse team punched its ticket to the Patriot League Tournament with a 13-9 win over Lafayette, while Courtney Miller tallied her 100th career goal in the victory. The Raiders (7-6, 4-1 PL) got three goals from their junior captain, while senior captain Colleen Bubnack posted four goals and classmate Kate Bergstrom netted three. Bergstrom also added an assist for four points. Goalie Christina Roa really stepped up for the Raiders in the second half with eight saves with most coming on free-position shots. She had a total of 12 stops in her seventh win of the year.

CLINCHING ANOTHER TOURNAMENT APPEARANCE
The Raiders clinched their 10th-straight Patriot League Tournament appearance with the win over Lafayette and they are the only team in the league to play in all 10 tournaments. Overall, Colgate is 9-6 in the tournament with four titles in 10 years. The four championships are the most in league history. Lafayette and Holy Cross are next with two. Since the Raiders earned their first tournament win in 2004, Colgate is 9-3 and has the most wins by any conference team in the tournament.

TOP SEED ON THE LINE

Colgate has a chance to earn the top seed in the tournament this weekend with a win over Bucknell. However, the Raiders will need help from Lehigh in its game against Navy. The Mountain Hawks must beat the Mids on their home turf in order for Colgate to earn the top spot. The Raiders and Lehigh will then own a 5-1 PL record with Colgate owning the tie-breaker after beating the Mountain Hawks by a 19-16 s score earlier this year. For Navy to host it's a lot easier. Win and the Mids get it. The Navy-Lehigh game is at 3 p.m. and will be on national television on CBS Sports Network.

MILLER NETS NO. 100
Miller became the second player this season to reach 100 goals in her career as Bubnack did it against Syracuse earlier in the year. The goal came late in the first half and she added another in the second half to score her 101st of her career. She was the first junior to reach the milestone since Katie McVeigh '06 and Kelly Winning '06 made it in 2005. Miller reached the milestone in her 49th career game and during her three years, she has averaged just over two goals a game.

BUBNACK MOVES UP CHARTS THANKS TO STREAK
Bubnack is now in sole possession of third place all-time in points with 216 and passed Winning with four goals in the 13-9 win over the Leopards. She has scored in 21-straight games and has at least one point in 29-consecutive games. She became only the seventh player in the history of the program to reach 200 points in a career. She is third all-time in career assists with 78 and is one away from second. With a career-high 45 goals this season, she has jumped to seventh all-time in goals with 138. She is currently seventh in ground balls with 167 and has increased her lead as the top draw control player in the history of the program. Bubnack started the season in first with 133 and has added 29 to that total for 162 draws.

ROA NOW SIXTH IN WINS
The junior has passed two former goalies on the all-time wins list this season with seven wins and is tied for sixth with 21 career wins. She jumped Sara Drexler '09 and Amanda Chambers '93 and is tied with Jane Murray '02 for sixth. Roa has 117 saves in 2011 and has 387 in her career, which puts her in seventh all-time in that category. She moved up two spots since the beginning of the season. Ground balls have also been a huge part of her game and she has 35 in 13 starts, which is only two behind her career-high.

GAMES WON VS. GAMES LOST
In games won this season, Colgate has scored an average of 16 goals per game and has given up under 12 a contest. But in losses, the Raiders have averaged around 10 scores, while allowing 15.5. In wins, they are causing 37 more turnovers than losses, grabbing more ground balls and forcing its enemies to make poor decisions as Colgate has forced 138 turnovers. Teams clear the ball at an 84-percent success rate in Colgate's losses, but at a 68.6 rate in wins for the Raiders.

NO FREEBIES
Free-position defense is a big reason for Colgate's success and it showed in the win over Lafayette last Saturday. The Raiders and Roa allowed just four goals on 15 free-position attempts. All four came in the second half when the Leopards had 11 chances. They were held scoreless on four attempts in the first 30 minutes. In wins this year, the Raiders are allowing opponents to only score 30 percent of the time on FPAs, but in losses it is a big difference. Enemies are scoring 57 percent on free-position shots. However, in losses Colgate has allowed only 28 attempts. In wins, opponents have earned 64 opportunities.

DEFENSE ON THE RISE RECENTLY
The Colgate defense has become an important part of this team over the past five games. The Raiders are averaging under its season average of 13.77 goals per game, but Colgate has allowed just 10 goals a game and has held its opponents to 10 or less goals in four of those five games. The Raiders have reached double-digits in caused turnovers in four of the five as well, including a season-high 14 against Lafayette. Beasley Hays and Roa lead the team during the stretch with eight CTs themselves. Overall, Bubnack leads the team with 15 caused, while Kailey Krause is second with 12. When the team causes 10 or more turnovers, Colgate is 5-1 this year.
