Seven Raiders Earn Preseason Honors

Greg Sullivan and Nate Eachus were both named to the first team.
HAMILTON, N.Y. (8/4/10) - Seven Colgate football players have been named to Phil Steele's 2010 Preseason All-Patriot League Team. Senior quarterback Greg Sullivan (Monroe, N.Y.) and junior running back Nate Eachus (Drums, Pa.), along with junior offensive linemen Kevin Morgan (Vero Beach, Fla.) and Will Elmore (Palo Alto, Calif.) represented the Raiders on the first team.

Sullivan, the Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, finished last season with 1,952 yards passing and 18 touchdowns. The versatile quarterback also ran for 788 yards and seven scores to help lead the Raiders to nine wins for the second-straight season.

Eachus, a two-time all-Patriot First Team selection, rushed for 919 yards and 16 touchdowns in just eight games last season, including a season-high 216 yards and five touchdowns against Lafayette.

Morgan and Elmore headline an offensive line that helped Colgate average 249.9 rushing yards per game, third in the FCS last season.

Senior defensive ends Lamont Sonds (Hampton, Ga.) and Zack Smith (Thorafare, N.J.) along with sophomore defensive back Demitri Diamond (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.) represent the second team.

Sonds finished last season with 32 tackles and 2.5 sacks, while Smith posted 43 tackles, 25 unassisted, and 2.5 sacks. Diamond, the Patriot League Rookie of the Year, recorded 35 tackles, 26 unassisted and one interception.
