CHERRY HILL, N.J. (4/26/10) - The Colgate women's rowing team claimed fourth place at the Patriot League Rowing Championships this weekend on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
Three races made up the Championship event, the varsity eight, second varsity eight and the varsity four. The Raiders entered boats in both the varsity eight and second varsity eight races. Bucknell won the event with 35 points overall after taking the top spot in both the varsity eight and second varsity eight. Navy came in second with 31 points and the varsity four victory, while Holy Cross finished third with 18 followed by Colgate with 16. Newcomer Massachusetts Institute of Technology claimed fifth place with 15 points while Lehigh rounded out the event with six points.
The Raiders earned a third place finish in the varsity eight race in 7:20.10, just nine seconds back from first place finisher Bucknell. Rowing in the varsity eight boat for Colgate were

Jillian Anderson (East Walpole, Mass.) as coxswain.
Colgate's second varsity eight boat finished in fifth place with a time of 8:06.93. Racing in the Raiders boat were
Louisa Jelaco (Seattle, Wash.), Kirsten Kellstrom (Chatham, N.J.), Katie Rice (Canton, Ohio), Larissa Pauli (Southampton, N.Y.), Lauren Davis (Thornhill, Ont.), Laura Crawford (Allentown, N.J.), Jayne Tamboia (Redding, Conn.), Gabby Cambanis (Athens, Greece) and
Stephanie Hamilton (Newton, Mass.) as coxswain.
The 2010 All-Patriot League Team will be announced later this week with selections based on the finish in the varsity eight race. Colgate will have one rower on both the first and second team. The Raiders will also be back in action this Saturday, May 1 at the ECAC's in Camden, N.J.
