HAMILTON, N.Y. (2/1/10) - As the Colgate men's crew team prepares for their upcoming spring season which begins with the Murphy Cup on April 3, they have their sights set on a much more immediate goal: the National Human Dogsled Championships.
The annual competition is part of the 10th Annual Winterfest Celebration in Lowell, Mass. Feb. 5-6. Each year more than 32 sleigh teams consisting of six people per team race across 200 yards of snow, two teams at a time, for the title.
The Colgate men will be entering two teams into the race with each team consisting of four pullers, one musher and one rider. The Colgate A team is made up of
Marc Cassone (Plattsburgh, N.Y.), Bryan Ferguson (Chatham, N.J.), Pierre Gross (Acton, Mass.) and
Robbie Bickhart (Villanova, Pa.) pulling,
William Civitillo (West Hartford, Conn.) will be mushing and
May Bayer (Boston, Mass.) riding.
Sam Walker (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Matt Woodrow (Glenview, Ill.), Jamies Clinton (Vancouver, B.C.) and Owen Myers (Winnetka, Ill.) will be pulling the B team, with
Alex Grieve (Topsfield, Mass.) mushing and
Ben Jones (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) as the rider.
