Raiders Host Cornell on Wednesday Night

– The Colgate women's basketball team returns to Cotterell Court this week when it hosts Cornell on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. This will be the Raiders third home game of the season.

Colgate (2-5) is coming off a 63-62 heartbreaking loss to McNeese State in the consolation game of the LIU Turkey Classic on Saturday after suffering a 78-56 setback to Boston University in its first game of the classic on Friday afternoon.

Sophomore Jhazmine Lynch (San Diego, Calif.) led the team with a game-high 17 points and three rebounds while seniors Sami Kozlowski (New Market, Md.) and Tayler Wejnert (Ramsey, N.J.) contributed 13 and 12 points respectively for the Raiders. Wejnert was also named to the All-Tournament team.

WEEKLY AWARD WINNER

Lynch was named the Patriot League/Anaconda Player of the Week for her performance last week. The sophomore had a career-high 29 points, four steals and four rebounds in the team's 85-72 win over Wagner on Tuesday (Nov. 23) before recording a team-high 17 points, three steals and a perfect 8-for-8 from the line in the team's 63-62 loss to McNeese State on Saturday.

COURT LEADERS
Lynch leads the team in points, averaging 17.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. She is followed by Wejnert who has an average of 12.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Senior Krista Moser (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) continues to lead the team in rebounds with a total of 51 for a 7.3 average.

SERIES

Cornell leads the all-time series with the Raiders, owning a 16-14 record. The Big Red has won the last four meetings between the two teams, with its most recent win coming last season when it defeated Colgate 74-64 in Ithaca, N.Y. The Raiders, who last defeated Cornell 77-63 in the 2003-04 season, have a 9-6 record at home.

SCOUTING CORNELL

The Big Red (1-5) is coming off an 0-2 weekend with a 66-41 loss to Eastern Michigan followed by a 56-45 setback to Oakland. The team's only win this season was over Winston-Salem State on Nov. 22, with its other three losses coming to Cleveland State, Syracuse and Fairfield.

Cornell is led by sophomore Clare Fitzpatrick and freshman Allyson DiMagno. Fitzpatrick leads the team in scoring and in rebounds averaging 8.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. She is followed by DiMagno who has an average of 6.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
