Jhazmine Lynch (San Diego, Calif.) laid in the game-winning basket with just 13 seconds left on the clock as the Colgate Raiders defeated Patriot League opponent Navy, 56-54, on Saturday afternoon at Cotterell Court.

Katie Garman (Poplar Grove, Ill.) led the Raiders with 16 points and added five rebounds and four steals, while Lynch had 13 points, three boards and three assists on the day. Junior
Tayler Wejnert (Ramsey, N.J.) led the squad in rebounding with six to go along with five points. Navy's Kristin Bowen scored a game-high 25 points for the Mids.
Bowen opened the game with a three-point basket for the Mids (11-11, 3-4) but the Raiders responded with a jumper from Garman then forced a turnover on the other end of the court. After Garman connected on two free throws the Raiders (7-14, 2-5) held a 4-3 advantage three minutes into the game.
By the ten minute mark, Colgate had built a six point lead after Lynch hit a long-range shot of her own. Wejnert extended that lead to eight a minute later to give the Raiders their largest lead of the half, 19-11, with 9:41 remaining. Navy wouldn't go down easily however, as Cassie Consedine cut the Mids deficit to four with a three-point play. Bowen added a three-pointer and Navy trailed by just one, 19-18, with six minutes left on the clock.
Bowen drilled another three to give the Mids their first lead of the game, 23-21, just before the two minute mark. By half-time Navy gained a 27-23 advantage, spurred by a 14 point half by Bowen.
Navy opened the second half with a 7-3 run to gain an eight point lead over the Raiders.
Tricia Oakes (Evergreen, Colo.) spurred Colgate's comeback picking up six point in just two minutes to cut the Mids lead in half. Sophomore
Kelly Korkowski (Williamsburg, Va.) added another basket and the Raiders were back within two, 36-34, with just over 12 minutes left in the game.
Colgate regained the lead a few minutes later as Garman buried a three to give the Raiders a 42-39 advantage. Wejnert put in a lay-up a few minutes later, drawing a foul and making good on the three point play to give Colgate a seven point lead with six minutes left.
The Mids responded with back-to-back three's and Angela Myers added five more points to tie the game for the seventh time this afternoon. With just 1:20 left on the clock, Bowen drilled another long-range shot to give Navy a 54-52 lead.
Korkowski tied the game at 54 with less than a minute left on the clock. Bowen attempted another three but Korkowski made a crucial block and Bowen drew the foul with just 38 seconds remaining in regulation. After a Colgate time-out, Lynch gained possession of the ball and cut inside threw a crowd of Navy players to put in what would be the game-winning basket. Garman forced a turnover on the other end of the court and the Raiders held the ball for the final second of play.
The Raiders shot 40 percent (20-50) from the field while Navy went 13-43 from the floor (30.2 percent). The Mids held a slight advantage in rebounds 35-29.
Colgate will be back in action next Saturday, Feb. 6, when they host Army at 2 p.m. on Cotterell Court.
