Colgate Women's Lacrosse Readies For Binghamton

Ashley Didio is closing in on the top 10 lists in goals and points at Colgate
HAMILTON, N.Y. (3/24/09)  – After posting a successful 2-1 trip on the west coast, the Colgate women's lacrosse team returns home for the first time in four games to take on in-state rival Binghamton, Wednesday evening.  Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Tyler's Field.

Colgate, 7-3 on the year, comes into the clash off a 14-11 loss to the University of Oregon, Saturday afternoon in Eugene.  The loss to the Ducks halted a five-game win streak.  Colleen Bubnack (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Brie Moran (Little Silver, N.J.) each posted three goals against Oregon.

The Raiders possess a balanced scoring attack with five players scoring 10 or more goals.  Moran (31-7-38) and Meghan Lawler (Liverpool, N.Y.), a junior who has 24 goals and 12 assists to date, rank second and fifth respectively among Patriot League goal scorers, while Bubnack (19-13-32) is eighth in points per game average.  Courtney Miller (Chappaqua, N.Y.) and Ashley Didio (Syracuse, N.Y.) both have 16 goals and round out the top five goal scorers.  Didio netted her 100th career score at Colgate in the loss at Oregon.

Binghamton, 2-5 overall, heads to Hamilton with a three-game losing skid.  The Bearcats dropped a 13-9 decision to Vermont, Saturday.  Prior to the loss to the Catamounts, Binghamton suffered a pair of one loss results to Canisius (12-11) and Bucknell (8-7).  Beth Moore (18-1-19), Ali Castiglie (12-5-17), Lisa Illig (12-3-15), and Lis Zuern (10-3-13) lead the Bearcats' offensive attack.

Wednesday's meeting will only mark the second time these two schools have played with the Bearcats holding a 1-0 advantage.  Binghamton rallied from a two goal deficit in the final 13 minutes en route to a 12-11 victory over Colgate last year in Vestal.  The Raiders had seven different goal scorers with Moran leading the way with three.
