SMITHFIELD, R.I. (1/4/09) - The Colgate University women's basketball team will wrap up its non-conference schedule on the road Monday, Jan. 5, as they close out a 10-day road trip against Bryant at the Chace Athletic Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
It is the first year the Raiders have faced the Bulldogs, falling to them earlier this week at the Fordham Holiday Classic. Colgate, which was down by just three at the half, fell to Bryant 59-71, on Dec. 28.
The Raiders are currently 4-10 overall, and 2-2 on this recent road trip. Colgate's most recent win came against Howard University on Friday, Jan. 2. The Raiders defeated the Lady Bison, 57-41, but fell to Central Connecticut State two days prior, 63-83. Tayler Wejnert (Ramsey, N.J.) currently leads Colgate, averaging 15.8 points per game in the last four games. Sami Kozlowski (New Market, Md.) follows, averaging 10.5 points per game in 14 starts. Sophomore Georgia Gier (Mercer Island, Wash.) leads the Raiders in rebounding, averaging 7.2 per game, while Patricia Oakes (Evergreen, Colo.) tallies 5.8 per game.
The Bulldogs are currently 4-8 overall after falling to St. Bonaventure 67-58 on Friday, Jan. 2. Bryant also lost to Fordham, 70-51, at the Fordham Holiday Classic on Dec. 29, after defeating Colgate the day before. The Bulldogs are led by Kelsey O'Keefe with 13.6 points per game and 7.6 rebounds. Siamone Bennett follows averaging 9.2 and 6.3 boards. O'Keefe was the top scorer against Colgate on the 28th, with 15 points, while Bennett led on the boards with nine rebounds.
Colgate will be back in action at Cotterrell Court on Saturday, Jan. 10, when the Raiders host their Patriot League conference opener against Army at 2 p.m.
