HAMILTON, N.Y. (7/11/08) – Colgate University strength and conditioning coach Rusty Burney has announced the hiring of Jeremy Golden as assistant strength and conditioning coach.
Golden brings a broad range of experience to the position, having been a collegiate football player, a high school tennis coach and a strength and conditioning coach in the professional and semipro basketball leagues.
He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Tulsa and played wide receiver for the Golden Hurricanes from 1997-99. Golden went on to earn his master’s from the University of New Mexico.
A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Golden currently is the head strength and conditioning coach for the Albuquerque Thunderbirds of the NBA D-League, affiliated with the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks.
In 2007 he acted as the head strength and conditioning coach for the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA.
For the past two years, Golden has been the associate head coach as well as the director of physical performance for the Manzano High School girl’s basketball program. Prior to that position, he was the head girl’s tennis coach and head strength and conditioning coach at Eldorado High School for three years. It was at Eldorado that Golden was named the 2002 United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) High School Tennis Coach of the Year in the southwest region.
Golden is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, USA Weightlifting, and the Coalition of Americans to Protect Sports as a risk manager. He also is certified in adult, child and infant CPR by the American Red Cross.
