Tiana Tyeskey’s (Granite Bay, CA) first collegiate home run in the eighth inning lifted Colgate to an 8-6 win over Bucknell in the opener of Sunday’s Patriot League doubleheader at West Fields. The Bison (13-21, PL 5-3) rallied in the nightcap for an 11-6 win.
Tyeskey was 3-for-5 with two RBI for the Raiders, while
Ashley Rowe (Tampa, FL) was 3-for-5 with two RBI,
Kortney Hannah (Vacaville, CA), Maddy Shufelt (Troy, NY) and LaPorscha Albert (Lewisville, TX) had two hits apiece. Shufelt had a pair of RBI in the fifth inning with her first collegiate home run.
Lacy Ver Steeg (Elk Grove, CA), who replaced Colgate starter
Jesse McCarrick (Oak Hill, VA) on the mound in the sixth inning picked up the victory. She worked the final 2.1 innings allowing three hits, walking one and striking out two.
Colgate (4-11, PL 1-3) fell behind 3-0, before scoring six runs in the fifth inning. After Bucknell tied the contest with a pair runs in the fifth and one in the sixth, Colgate scored twice in the eighth for the win.
With one out, Tyeskey cracked her home run over the left field fence. Rowe followed with a single up the middle, and after moving to second on a fielders’ choice, came home with an insurance run on a Bucknell fielding error.
In the second game, Colgate took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Rowe’s double to left center. The Bison scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the frame and another run in the second for a 4-1 lead.

Vicky Ortengren (Colorado Springs, CO) from third. Bucknell added two more runs in the bottom of the inning to increase its lead to 6-2.
The Raiders tallied twice more in the fourth on a pair of BU fielding errors before the Bison scored five straight runs over the next three innings for an 11-4 lead.
Colgate’s final two runs came in the seventh on a RBI ground out by Tyeskey and Rowe’s RBI single. Rowe was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
