Elizabeth Kennedy (Towaco, N.J.) and sophomore
Lauren Abuouf (Livingston, N.J.) both brought home victories for the Raiders at the Greyhound Invitational hosted by Moravian College. No team scores were recorded in the meet.
Kennedy clocked a personal-best time of 18:13.61 in the 5,000-meter run to capture top honors. She bested her previous best by five seconds and beat the runner-up by 53 seconds.
Abuouf won the discus with a season-best toss of 39.33 meters, edging the second-place finisher by just four inches. It passed her previous best throw of the season by .76 meters. She also took fourth in the shot put with a season-best throw of 11.73 meters.
In addition to Kennedy’s victory in the 5,000, the Raiders added two more top-six finishes. Sophomore
Jenn Bradley (Findlay, Ohio) came in fourth with a time of 19:21.27, while senior
Kathryn Marvel (Williamsburg, Mass.) took sixth in 19:43.78. It marked the first time both Bradley and Marvel had run the 5,000 this season.
Rookie
Michele Miller (Silver Spring, Md.) ran a lifetime-best in the 400-meter dash, finishing the one lap in 57.36. That ranks third all-time at Colgate and is over a second faster than her previous best time of the season. She also brought home a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash with her second fastest time of the season at 25.45.
Sophomore
Ashley Niness (Berwyn, Pa.) continued to improve in the 800-meter run as she clocked a collegiate-best time of 2:18.33. Her effort pushed her to 10th on the Colgate records board. Rookie
Alison Bodack (Short Hills, N.J.) led the way for Colgate in the 1,500 with a time of 5:08.51.
In the short sprints, junior
Curry Knox (Seattle, Wash.) took seventh in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.73 and 10th in the 100-meter hurdles with a 15.87 effort. Junior
Ashley Mecone (Hopkinton, Mass.) turned in a season-best time in the 100 dash, covering the track in 13.01.
Sophomore
Sarah Chabal (Hummelstown, Pa.) registered a pair of solid performances in the long and triple jumps. Chabal turned in a season-best leap of 5.20 meters in the long jump and jumped 10.71 meters in the triple jump.
The Raiders’ 4x400-meter relay team of Miller, Niness,
Andrea Fugazot (Highland Mills, N.Y.), and
Noelle Edmonson (Yonkers, N.Y.) had a season-best showing with a time of 4:03.23 for third place. That is three seconds faster than the previous best 4x400 by the Raiders this season.
