HAMILTON, N.Y. (3/19/08) – Colgate University junior defenseman Nick St. Pierre (St. Etienne, Que.), a 2006 ECAC Hockey all-rookie team selection and an assistant captain for the Raiders, suffered a season-ending injury in Sunday’s quarterfinal game at then-No. 7 Clarkson and will not play in this weekend’s Bank of America ECAC Hockey Championship.

During the first period of the third game of the series, St. Pierre broke his hand after taking a hit to the right of the Raider net while breaking the puck out of his own end. He skated in 32 games this season, and contributed one goal and seven assists for eight points. St. Pierre, one of the team’s most prolific shot-blockers, ranks second on the squad with 45 blocked shots this year. Last season, he led Colgate’s defensemen with 23 points in 40 games.

The Raiders take on No. 15 Princeton in the first semifinal of the ECAC Championship on Friday, Mar. 21, at 4:00 p.m. The winner of the game will advance to the title tilt, where they will face the winner of the semifinal between No. 16 Harvard and No. 20 Cornell, on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Both semifinals and the championship game will be televised on Time Warner Sports in Upstate New York, as well as on SportsNet New York and the NHL Network.
