WEST POINT, N.Y. (2/9/08)
– Jarell Brown hit an 11-foot jumper at the buzzer to lift Army to a 59-57 overtime victory over Colgate Saturday afternoon at Christl Arena.

Army (11-11, PL 4-4) snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Raiders, while Colgate (11-12, PL 3-6) lost its fifth straight overtime game dating back to last season.  The Raiders have lost three of their six league setbacks this season in overtime.

Brown finished with 19 points and five rebounds for the Cadets, while Doug Williams added 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Colgate was led by Kendall Chones (Cleveland, OH) with 20 points, followed by Kyle Roemer (Martinez, CA) with 16 and Alex Woodhouse (Alexandria, VA) with eight points and 11 rebounds.

Trailing by five points with 40 seconds remaining in regulation, the Raiders rallied to send the contest into overtime.  Roemer hit a 3-pointer with 34 seconds left, and after Army’s Tyrell Thompson missed two free throws, Roemer scored on a reverse layup to tie the game, 52-52, with 13 seconds remaining.

In overtime, Army jumped out to a 55-52 lead on Brown’s 3-pointer, but Chones’ layup and Willie Morse’s (State College, PA) 3-pointer gave the Raiders a one-point lead, 57-55.  Army tied the contest with 1:29 left on a pair of free throws by Williams.  With seven-tenths of a second remaining, the Cadets got possession under their own basket, where they found Brown open for the winning basket.

Colgate lead by as many as seven points in the first half before settling for a 25-23 lead heading into intermission.

The Raiders shot 41 percent from the field, while Army managed 36 percent.  The Cadets edged Colgate in rebounding, 39-36, but managed 12 offensive boards.
