HAMILTON, N.Y. (2/6/08) – John Griffin scored a career-high 31 points, including eight in overtime, to lift Bucknell to a 91-85 Patriot League win over Colgate Wednesday night at Cotterell Court.
Bucknell (10-12 overall, 5-3 Patriot League) rallied from a five-point halftime deficit for its eighth straight win over the Raiders (11-11, PL 3-5). The Bison victory snapped a two-game losing skid, while Colgate had its two-game winning streak stopped.
Bucknell had three other players in double figures led by Stephen Tyree with a career-high 16 points, and Darren Mastropaolo and Justin Castleberry with 10 points apiece.
Colgate had an 11-point lead in the second half with 11:21 remaining, before Bucknell rallied to send the contest into overtime on Darryl Shazier’s 3-pointer at the buzzer.
In overtime, Colgate held an 84-83 lead with 42 seconds left, but Griffin managed an old fashion three-point play to put the Bison in front, 86-84, with 32 seconds remaining. After Waddy made one-of-two free throws to put the Raiders down by one point with 25 seconds left, Bucknell iced the contest on a pair of free throws by Griffin and Tyree’s layup at the buzzer.
Bucknell out-rebounded the Raiders, 39-29, led by Tyree with nine, while Woodhouse and Waddy had seven apiece for Colgate.
