Colgate Football Players Visit Cancer Patients At Local Hospital

Football Players Visit Local Hospital
SYRACUSE, N.Y. 2/29/08 - Members of the Colgate football team recently made a visit to the Upstate Medical Hospital in Syracuse.  The Raiders visited with cancer, sickle cell and post-op patients under the age of 18.

The trip was organized by junior linebacker Greg Hadley from Fayetteville, New York, who played his scholastic football at Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse.  “That was the first time I went back to the hospital since my sister had cancer about 10 years ago,” said Hadley.  “It was a great opportunity for all of us and the kids loved it.  It’s nice when you get a chance to give back like that.  All the players handled it very well and we had fun.  I’d like to think we helped the kids get through their tough times.  The parents and nurses were extremely appreciative.”

The players are hoping to go back sometime before the school ends.  “I’d like to bring another group of players and the women’s soccer team voiced some interest,” said Hadley.
