Harvard Edges Colgate 67-64 In Men's Basketball

– Jeremy Lin tallied a game-high 26 points, including 17 in the second half, as Harvard held on for a 67-64 non-conference win over Colgate Saturday afternoon at Cotterell Court.
 
The Crimson improves their record to 4-2, while Colgate (2-5) went down to its fifth straight loss.
 
Lin also led Harvard with eight rebounds and six assists, while Max Kenyi added 11 points and five rebounds.
 
Colgate freshman Yaw Gyawu (Lilburn, GA) was the Raiders’ leading scorer with a career-high 17 points, while Alex Woodhouse (Alexandria, VA) added 14 points and nine rebounds.  Mike Venezia (Westfield, NJ) had 10 points for Colgate.
 
Harvard jumped out to a big 11-point advantage, 15-4, early in the first half with Lin scoring five points and Keith Wright adding six.  The Raiders were able to cut the deficit to four points on two occasions, before Harvard enjoyed a five-point lead at halftime, 32-27.
 
In the second half, Colgate fell behind by seven points before staging a rally to tie the game, 44-44, with 12:38 left on a 3-pointer from the corner by Venezia.  The six-point run saw Gyawu added three foul shots.
 
The game was tied twice more before Harvard pulled ahead 50-48 on a jumper by Oliver McNally with 10:38 left.  The Crimson was able to hold off Colgate for the rest of the game.  The Raiders had a chance to tie the game at he buzzer, but Anthony Hill’s (Plano, TX) 3-point attempt came up short.
 
Harvard edged Colgate in the rebounding department 34-33.   The Raiders shot 44 percent from the field, while the Crimson managed 48 percent.
 
Colgate will play its next eight games on the road beginning with Monday night’s contest at the University of Maine.
