Syracuse Defeats Colgate 86-51 At The Carrier Dome

-  Paul Harris scored a game-high 22 points to lead nationally-ranked and undefeated Syracuse to an 86-51 win over Colgate Monday night at the Carrier Dome.
 
Syracuse has opened the season with a seven-game winning streak, while Colgate (2-3) dropped its third straight contest.
 
Other Syracuse players in double figures were Jonny Flynn with 12 and Arinze Onuaku and Rick Jackson with 10 apiece.
 
Colgate was led by Mike Venezia (Westfield, NJ) with eight points and five rebounds and Joe Hoban (West Chester, PA) with a career-high seven points.  Alex Woodhouse (Alexandria, VA) had a career-high seven blocked shots.
 
The Orange took control of the game early opening with a seven point run behind five points by Flynn.  After Colgate scored its first points of the game on a basket by Woodhouse, Syracuse exploded for 10 straight points for a 17-2 lead.  The Orange led at halftime, 43-13.
 
The second half was a different story for the Raiders, who were outscored only 43-38.  Colgate opened with a 10-5 run to cut into the Syracuse lead behind a pair of 3-pointers from Willie Morse (State College, PA) and Tre Vinson (Arlington, VA).  With 3:53 remaining the game, Colgate had outscored Syracuse 22-21.
 
The Orange out-rebounded the visitors, 48-32, with Jackson grabbing 10 rebounds.  Colgate shot only 31 percent from the field, while the taller Orange made 51 percent.
 
Colgate’s next game is on Wednesday, when the Raiders play host to New Hampshire.
