Colgate Women Remain Undefeated With Victory Over Dartmouth

HAMILTON, N.Y. (11/18/08) – The Colgate women’s swimming and diving team remained undefeated with a convincing 159-82 victory over Dartmouth, Sunday afternoon at Lineberry Natatorium.
 
The Raiders captured 11 of 13 first place finishes, including three one-two-three sweeps en route to improving to 4-0 on the year.  Dartmouth fell to 1-2.
 
Emily Murphy (Syracuse, N.Y.), Beverly Walker (Marietta, Ga.), and Caren Guyett (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) were all triple winners, while Erica Derlath (Garden City, N.Y.), Lisa Marchi (Scottsdale, Ariz.), and Ashley Bottger (Weston, Conn.) were double winners.
 
Walker, Murphy, Guyett and Emily Peck (Brooktondale, N.Y.) opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.03 and then the Raiders’ foursome of Marchi, Walker, Erin McGraw (Penfield, N.Y.) and Bottger claimed the 400 free relay after touching with a 3:31.78.
 
Colgate flexed its muscles in the 400 IM, 500 free and 200 breast by sweeping the top three spots.  Guyett led the charge in the 400 IM with a winning time of 4:31.45 with McGraw and Derlath finishing second and third.  In the 500 free, Derlath finished with a time of 5:10.27 ahead of Marchi and Erika Mortenson (Chesterfield, Mo.).  Murphy won the 200 breast with a time of 2:22.68 ahead of Caitlin Curran (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Alaina Sullivan (Shaker Heights, Ohio).
 
Other winners included Walker in the 200 back (2:08.38); Murphy in the 50 free (24.67); Guyett in the 200 fly (2:06.86); Derlath in the 1650 (17:19.53); Marchi in the 200 free (1:53.26), and Bottger in the 100 free (52.17).
 
Colgate will return to action December 4-6 at the Kenyon Invitational in Gambier, Ohio.
