WEST POINT, N.Y. (10/4/2008) - The Colgate volleyball team dropped a close fought match Saturday afternoon to Army 25-16, 22-25, 17-25 and 19-25, at Gillis Field House.
Colgate was led by
Katrina Zawojski (Palo Alto, Calif.) who posted 19 kills with a hitting percentage of .333.
Meghan Fanta (Hillsboro, Wisc.) dished out 36 assists, while
Jackie Adlam (Mill Valley, Calif.) led the charge with 14 digs. Fanta also posted eight digs.
The Raiders jumped out to an early lead in the first set and held on to that advantage the remainder of the set to a 25-16 victory. Colgate recorded a team high 14 kills in the set with a match-high .400 hitting percentage.
The second set saw the two teams swap points before Army was able to grab control of the tempo to take the set 25-22.
The Black Knights jumped out early leads in the third and fourth sets to eventually take both 25-17 and 25-19.
The Raiders (6-10, 2-2) will continue league play on the road Saturday (Oct. 10), as they travel to Bucknell. The match is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
