HAMILTON, N.Y. (10/31/08) - Casey Ritt (Colorado Springs, Colo.) posted a match-high 12 kills and four blocks as Colgate rallied from three points down in the third set to post a convincing 25-13, 25-15, 25-23 victory over visiting Bucknell, Friday evening in a Patriot League clash.
With the victory, the Raiders successfully avenged an earlier setback at the hands of the Bison and improved to 11-12 overall (6-4 in league action). Colgate closed the match out with a 7-2 run in the final set. Bucknell fell to 10-16 overall and 5-5 in the Patriot League.
The Raiders’ offense came out firing on all cylinders, hitting .565 in the opening game. Ritt hammered down five of six kill opportunities.
Meghan Fanta (Hillsboro, Wisc.) dished out 12 assists and opened the game with two service aces.
Fanta, the school’s record holder for assists, handed out 36 on the evening and tied for the match lead with 11 digs.
Jackie Adlam (Mill Valley, Calif.), Colgate’s all-time dig leader, also registered 11 in the victory.
The Raiders return to action next Friday evening as Army comes to town. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at Cotterell Court.
