Raider Women Continue to Roll with 193-101 Win Over Binghamton in Swimming

Sophomore Kim Siembieda earned her first collegiate win with a personal-best performance in the 200 back at Binghamton.

The Colgate University women's swimming team won its fifth straight dual meet, 193-101, at Binghamton on Saturday, Jan. 26.

The Raiders began the afternoon by taking the top two spots in the 400 medley relay. The winning foursome of freshman Emily Kelly (Potomac, Md.), sophomore Caitlin Curran (Alpharetta, Ga.), sophomore Kate Murphy (Williamsburg, Va.), and junior Lisa Marchi (Scottsdale, Ariz.) posted a time of 4:05.35, while the runners-up, seniors Colby Seamans (Naperville, Ill.), Kacy Reams (Evanston, Ill.) and Allie Lenci (Fairfield, Conn.), and sophomore Kim Siembieda (Narberth, Pa.) finished in 4:08.43.

Colgate was also one-two in the 200 free. Freshman Caren Guyett (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) won the event in 1:55.79, and Marchi finished second in 1:58.35. Marchi was the winner in the 200 fly, registering a time of 2:11.31, while Kelly was the runner-up, touching the wall in 2:14.92.

The Raiders swept the top three spots in the 50 free. Sophomore Sarah Sciarrino (Buffalo, N.Y.) won the event in 25.40, and she was followed by freshman Elora Apantaku (Wilmette, Ill.), who finished in 25.98, and Lenci, who posted a time of 26.49.

Colgate also claimed the top three finishes in the 500 free. Junior Beverly Walker (Marietta, Ga.) won the event in 5:27.37. Sophomore Caitlin Dwyer (Hicksville, N.Y.) was second with a time of 5:28.72, and Kate Murphy was third in 5:29.64.

Sciarrino won the 100 back in 1:02.49, edging out Seamans, who came in second in 1:03.65. Junior Emily Murphy (Syracuse, N.Y.) won the 100 breast in 1:08.20. Curran came in third, recording a time of 1:09.98, and sophomore Alaina Sullivan (Shaker Heights, Ohio) was fourth in 1:10.64. Emily Murphy won the 200 IM in 2:14.42. Reams was the runner-up, finishing in 2:15.35.

Sophomore Kim Siembieda (Narberth, Pa.) earned her first collegiate win in the 200 back, recording a time of 2:15.04. Sciarrino was fourth, finishing in 2:16.18. Curran won the 200 breast in 2:30.44. She was followed by Seamans, who posted a time of 2:34.76 to finish second. Marchi won the 100 fly, finishing in 59.11.

In the 100 free, Kate Murphy was the winner, turning in a time of 55.01, while Dwyer finished second in 56.52. Apantaku came in fourth, posting a time of 57.36, just 0.03 seconds behind the third-place finisher.

Junior Ashley Bottger (Weston, Conn.) won the 1000 free in a career-best time of 11:01.68. Senior Magdalena Mango (New York, N.Y.) was third, posting a personal-best time of 11:31.24.

Colgate closed the meet by finishing first and second in the 400 free relay. The top foursome of Mango, Walker, Lenci, and Bottger won the event in 3:39.96, while Siembieda, Kate Murphy, Kelly, and Guyett were second in 3:43.22.

The Raiders return to the water on Sunday, Jan. 27, when they host Massachusetts for a dual meet that begins at 11:00 a.m.
