Women's Soccer Buries Big Red, 3-0

Sophomore Jillian Arnault paced the Raiders with a goal and an assist.
 
ITHACA, N.Y. (9/30/07) – The Colgate University women’s soccer team posted a 3-0 shutout over regional rival Cornell University on Sunday, Sept. 30 at Berman Field. Sophomore Jillian Arnault (Clay, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal and assisted on another to lead the Raiders to victory.
 
Freshman Calista Victor (Seattle, Wash.) sent a through ball to Arnault on the left side of the goal, and Arnault blasted a shot to the lower right pocket at 15:40.
 
Sophomore Christine Walker (Renton, Wash.) made it 2-0 Colgate when she knocked in a header off a Jessica Bitsack (Mendham, N.J.) corner kick at 69:40. Bitsack sent a perfectly placed ball to the far post where Walker hammered it home.
 
Junior Josie Johnson (Wilmette, Ill.) finished the Raiders’ scoring in the 79th minute when she picked up an Arnault through ball and put it past Cornell’s goalkeeper Jodi Palmer.
 
Senior Brittany Pearsall (La Grange, Ill.) earned her second start of the season and made three saves in the first 84:02, before she was replaced by sophomore Carrie Glass (Alpharetta, Ga.). Glass made four stops in the final 5:58. Palmer made two saves and allowed three for Cornell.
 
Colgate outshot Cornell, 14-9, and had a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.
 
Colgate (7-4-1) hosts American on Homecoming Weekend, Saturday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m., in the Patriot League season opener.
