LONDON (7/6/2007)—The Colgate University men’s rowing team continued its competition at the annual Henley Royal Regatta on the Thames River in England on July 4-6. Colgate’s two coxed four boats and the eight boat all earned spots in the respective cups at the regatta.
The story of the week has been the Raiders’ eight, which has won all three races in the Temple Challenge Cup. Colgate’s coxed four boats both competed in the Prince Albert Challenge Cup, with the “B” crew losing its first competition, and the “A” boat capturing a win and a loss.

Austin Sigety, and coxswain Brenna O’Rourke kicked things off in the Temple Challenge Cup, going head-to-head against Oxford Brookes University “A”. The Raiders took the lead after the first quarter mile at The Barrier and stayed strong throughout the 1.3-mile course to win by 1 1/2 lengths with its fastest time of the week at 7:19.
The crew came back on July 5 to race against Eton College. The Raiders were outstanding against Eton as they pulled away from the very start and cruised to a win by 3 1/4 lengths, finishing in 7:28. In its most recent race on July 6, Colgate rowed past Trinity College “A” of Dublin, Ireland by 1 1/4 lengths with a time of 7:22.
The Raiders’ Colgate “A” coxed four and the Colgate “B” coxed four both competed in the Prince Albert Challenge Cup on July 4-5. The “B” boat of

Chris Monterosso kicked things off on July 4 against Imperial College London. Colgate fell behind early in the race as Imperial College London won by three lengths with a time of 8:20 on the 1.3-mile course.

Mary Dekar earned the Raiders’ first win in the Prince Albert Challenge Cup. Going head-to-head against Trinity College of Dublin, Ireland, the Raiders reached the quarter mile mark first in 2:20 and held off Trinity down the stretch to win by a half-length with a time of 8:35.
The win advanced Colgate’s “A” boat to race against Goldie B.C. on July 5. Goldie B.C. got off to a strong start, finishing the first quarter mile in 2:19. The Raiders were unable to catch Goldie B.C., as it pulled away to win by three-and-a-half lengths in 8:23.
