Maddox Named Assistant Field Hockey Coach

HAMILTON, N.Y. (6/15/07) - Colgate University head field hockey coach Cathy Foto has announced the hiring of Beth Maddox as an assistant coach. Maddox will assist Foto in all aspects of the field hockey program.

Maddox was a four-year letterwinner for the Old Dominion University field hockey team. As a midfielder she played in 77 games, starting 66 of them. Throughout her career she accumulated seven goals and two assists for 16 points. During Maddox’s time at Old Dominion, the field hockey team made consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, and won the national championship in 2000. The Lady Monarchs were also four-time CAA champions while Maddox was on the squad.

Maddox’s coaching experience includes stints with 16 individual and team Old Dominion field hockey camps. She also spent time coaching for the Virginia Beach Hockey League camps. Prior to coming to Colgate, Maddox coached the Salem High School junior varsity field hockey team.

“We are very excited to have Beth join our program,” Foto said. “She has played in one of the premier field hockey programs in the country and has played against top competition her entire career. She understands what it takes to get to the next level and will no doubt be able to communicate that to our student-athletes. We are fortunate to have Beth join us for the 2007 season and know that she will be able to make an immediate impact as a teacher and coach.”

A native of Virginia Beach, Va., Maddox graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in communications in 2005.
