LEWISBURG, Pa. (4/8/07) – The Colgate University women’s tennis team won a marathon bout with Bucknell University on Sunday, April 8 at the Gerhard Fieldhouse, pulling away with a 4-3 victory.
The Raiders claimed the doubles point, winning at No. 1 and 2. The two squads split the singles matches with the decisive match coming at No. 5 where sophomore
Cameron Thaney (Rochester, N.Y.) came away with a three-set victory.

Jackie Couture (Richmond, Va.) and freshman
Elise DeRose (Williamsville, N.Y.), dominated No. 1 singles. The duo defeated Ashley Globerman and Tania Verela, 8-2.

Samantha Inacker (Lake Forest, Ill.) pulled out an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles over Carlin Calcaterra and Paulina Gamboa to give the Raiders the 1-0 lead entering the singles.
Couture earned her second win of the day, topping Verela in two tiebreaker sets at No. 1 singles, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3).
Inacker came out on top at No. 3 singles, defeating Calcaterra in three sets. After dropping the first, 6-4, Inacker battled back to win the next two, 6-3, 6-4.
With the score set at 3-3 with two singles matches remaining, Thaney triumphed over Cailtin Baffa at No. 5 singles winning in three sets. The two traded sets before Thaney pulled away with a 6-1 set to win the match.
Colgate (9-7, 1-1) will play Holy Cross in a neutral site match on Saturday, April 14 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., at 10 a.m.
