Colgate's V4 Takes Top Honors in Race with UMass and Iona

The Varsity Four finished almost six seconds ahead of second-place Iona.
PELHAM, N.Y. (4/2/07) – The Colgate University women’s rowing team competed against the University of Massachusetts and Iona University on Sunday, April 1 on the Orchard Beach Lagoon.  The Raiders finished first in the varsity four, placed second in two other events and third in another.
 
The crew of Allison Patchen (cox), Lauren Realberg (stroke), Sarah Kruse (3-seat), Caitlyn Pearlman (2-seat) and Yasmin Rozwadowski (bow) in the varsity four had a winning time of 8:13.6.  Iona’s A boat crossed at 8:19.5, followed by UMass’ lightweight at 8:22.6, Iona’s B boat at 8:27.6 and UMass at 8:53.7.
 
Colgate crossed the tape second in the varsity eight, behind first-place UMass.  The Raiders clocked in at 7:03.8, while the Minutemen finished at 6:57.7.  Rowing for in the varsity eight were Margaux Jackson (cox), Lindsey Hochman (stroke), Kinsey Carlson (7-seat), Vicky Hulit (6-seat), Laura Lunn (5-seat), Lauren Schmetterling (4-seat), Ande Reisman (3-seat), Meredith Remmer (2-seat) and Emily Burton (bow).
 
In the second varsity eight, Colgate claimed second with a time of 7:33.5.  UMass’ A boat took top honors with a time of 7:16.9, while its B boat finished third at 7:51.2. The second varsity eight consisted of Caroline Tobias (cox), Colleen McCann (stroke), Michelle Nolan (7-seat), Cassie Rotman (6-seat), Kaela Chow (5-seat), Meredith Buerger (4-seat), Liz Congdon (3-seat), Melissa Madaio (2-seat), Lyndsae Schneider (bow).
 
The Raiders novice four of Melissa Glasser (cox), Laura London (stroke), Meeann Dingman (3-seat), Nicole la Hausse de Lalouviere (2-seat) and Olivia Roat (bow) finished third with a time of 8:24.4.  UMass’ A and B boats finished first and second, at 8:00.57 and 8:11.09, respectively.  The Minutemen’s C boat was fourth with a time of 8:49.2.
 
Colgate will compete in the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J., on April 14-15.  Last year, seven boats placed in their respective finals with five finishing in the top three.
