Brandon Corp (Chittenango, N.Y.) and freshman
Tim Harrington (Lutherville, Md.) were named the Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, the league office announced today. This is both players’ first weekly honor this season.
Corp was the catalyst for Colgate’s offense last week, tallying a combined eight goals and two assists for 10 points. The Raiders finished the week 1-1 as they fell to No. 2 Albany 13-10 and defeated No. 9 Army 9-7. He registered a career-high four goals and one assist against the Great Danes and again in Colgate’s victory over ninth-ranked Army. Corp also recorded the game winner against the Black Knights.
Corp currently is tied for the team lead in goals with 17 and is second in points with 24. He has scored at least one point in all nine games and has posted at least three in the past four outings.
Harrington had an outstanding week for the Raiders, making a total of 29 stops and posting a .592 save percentage and a 10.00 goals against average. He made a career-high 21 saves against No. 2 Albany, which also is the most by a Patriot League goalie this season. Four days later, Harrington made eight stops to help the Raiders upset No. 9 Army 9-7. For the season, Harrington is 3-3 overall with a .509 save percentage and 9.68 goals against average. His three losses have come against current No. 1 Cornell, No. 2 Albany, and No. 6 Navy.
Junior
Matt Lalli (Princeton Junction, N.J.) earned honorable mention recognition after tallying a combined three goals and three assists in the two contests. He had a goal and two assists against Albany and two goals and an assist against the Black Knights.
Colgate is 5-4 overall and 2-1 in Patriot League play. The Raiders are ranked 19th in this week’s LAXnews rankings, 20th in the LaxPower Forum Poll, and are receiving votes in both the USILA Coaches Poll and Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. Cornell sits at the top of all four polls for the fourth straight week.
The Raiders return to action on April 7, traveling to play league foe Lehigh at 1 p.m. Colgate and the Mountain Hawks have gone into overtime each of the past two seasons.
