BETHLEHEM, Pa. (4/15/07) – The Colgate University men’s tennis team recorded a 6-1 victory over Lehigh University, on Sunday, April 15 at Ulrich Varsity Courts.  The win gives the Raiders a sweep in their final weekend of the regular season, after defeating Holy Cross, 7-0 yesterday.

“Last year we lost 7-0 to Lehigh and we came back this year to beat them 6-1,” said head coach Bobby Pennington.

The sweep this weekend secures the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament for the Raiders.

“At one point during this season we were 2-8, but we’ve won eight out of nine matches to end year on a huge run,” said Pennington.  “We’ve won six in a row and are 4-2 in the Patriot League to clinch the No. 3 seed.  We barely lost to Army earlier this season, so we’re out for revenge.  We have a lot more confidence, we have the momentum, and the guys believe they can do it.”
